i also have been in contact with the local red cross here in thessaloniki. they are helping us to make contact with the local orphanages and after the first of the year 2011 i have agreed to begin teaching lessons to their volunteers who want to begin to quilt for charity causes. we will partner with the red cross on many of our projects and i am just so thrilled to have them join our team.
thomas and i are thinking to go to cyprus to visit some of the quilt shops there at the end of october and to athens as well to visit my quilting partner, theodora, and some of the shops that are selling quilt materials there. on the fabric front, it looks like a woman from texas, in america, has some fabric that she will be sending to greece for us to use in our ongoing projects!! this will come in very handy.
and tonight, our quilt group here in thessaloniki will meet to begin cutting the fabric for baby blankets for christmas and begin to make kits to hand out to other interested quilters in our area. i feel every day the direction of the Lord as He opens doors and as we strive to honor Him and all that is precious to His heart . . . the widow, the orphan, the poor, the aged. what a priviledge it is to have a needle in my hand:) what is in yours and how will you use it?
