wow!! what an exciting week we have had here in our studio!! first off on tuesday morning we recieved a new shipment of used fabric from our friends in texas. two boxes of scraps -- but maybe not scraps because there are alot of big cuts in this pile:) the girls were ecstatic with squeals of delight at all of the bright colors perfect for our ongoing baby quilt project.
then on wednesday night after our quilting session thomas and i were off on our exciting excursion to cyprus and then on to athens. this was a business trip designed to research available resources that could be used to funnel quilting supplies and fabrics into thessaloniki for all of our future projects. all in all our trip was a huge success and hopefully within the week we will have partnered with several, local shops willing to supply the necessary quilting needs to our community here in thessaloniki as it continues to grow and develop. we are taking our committment to invest in and bring hope to the lives of hurting people to the next level.
this is Stella, the shop owner of "Crafty Ideas" located in Nicosia, Cyprus and my new friend valentina who teaches quilting lessons there.

the children's book entitled, "the quilt maker's gift," by jeff brumbeau and gail de marcken, is a delightful story about a mythical quiltmaker who makes beautiful quilts -- but only for the poor and homeless. and like the quiltmaker in this story, i too make my quilts only for those less fortunate. as a Christ-follower and a quiltmaker it is my hope that the quilts that i make for the widow, the orphan, the aged, and the poor and homeless will result in warmed hearts and changed lives. sooo, if you or a group that you belong to would like to join me in this adventure, please contact me and we will see how you can join in!! -- kristine pappas
