This year in 2012 we have had two major projects going on simultaneously. Our first project was to hold a national quilt conference for the country of Greece in an effort to unite our passions and our goals in the area of quilting and to enter into a discussion together about what that union should look like for our country. During our conference in September 2012 we were able to establish the first Greek National Quilting Association with a desire to work towards entering the European Quilting Association in the future. We will also work as a united quilting association to begin the process of creating our own 100% cotton quilting fabric collections that we hope will be available to quilters both domestically but also to quilters around the world through exportation. We hope that this new developing industry will help to stimulate our failing economy from the cotton grower to the factories, from the designers to the marketplace, and finally to the growing number of quilters that are spreading like a wildfire across the land of Greece. We are excited by what we believe is possible and will work together to accomplish our goals. Photos of our conference can be enjoyed by selecting the conference tab on the left bar.
QUILTS FOR PAPAFIA ORPHANAGE
Our second major project of 2012 was to make 37 quilts for the orphanage at Papafio in Thessaloniki, Greece. This orphanage only houses boys so we made all of our quilts with that in mind. Below you can see the gallery of some of the quilts we have made. Eventually we will get them all on:)
