In January of 2011 we began a major project that involved making quilts for a local nursing home. Our goal was to make 50 lap sized quilts (36" X 35") for the residents who lived there. We completed the project the end of July not realizing that we would ultimately need 75 quilts in all. After passing them out to the residents we committed to making the additional lap quilts for Christmas 2011. Here is a short slide show of some of our first 50 quilts. Below, you will find a slide show of the final 25.
when we worked on the first 50 quilts for the nursing home we had lots of help from a group of students at ball state university in indiana. once they returned home, caitlyn and her husband, david, organized an effort to continue to make quilts from the university site recruiting other students and some adult advisors. they worked really hard and in december 2011 mailed the remaining 25 quilts to us ready to be quilted. i hope you enjoy the last of the 75 quilts in this slide show. you all did an amazing job!! merry christmas!!
ps -- even though the ball state students made 26 lap quilts for the nursing home (about 36"X34") due to the quiltmaker's slight miscalculation on numbers, we had to slip a few into the quilt pile for the plagiari orphanage and the quiltmaker had to make up the extra missing so you may see a few you didn't do here:) hahahaha
