most of our quilts are in now but we have about 5 more on the way. probably tucked in with all the christmas mailings that are going all over the world. from valerie in the UK we got two more beautiful quilts this week. they are georgous!! the one on the left was so festive looking that we asked her if she would mind if we put it on the A-21 safe house wall for christmas. the colors are perfect but also, because the prints are not really christmas prints it can stay throughout the year. it is so cheerful:) thanks valerie. valerie has decided that she would like to continue to quilt with us as a remote team and we are thrilled to have her join us.
so tonight we sewed 14 bindings on with the machine and the girls and i will hand tac them this week. as well, i will have about 10 tops to finish on the machine and then i will be done. we should have 60 quilts altogether when we are finished next week. yay. a special, special thanks to all of you who have joined us!! i hope you will also decide to be a remote team member on an ongoing basis now that you see how easy it is:) i just posted a new video of our work tonight on the home page. we will have 4 ongoing projects for next year all beginning in january:
1. teaching teenage orphans how to quilt and helping them to make lap quilts for the elderly and perhaps for the premie nurseries in the local hospitals.
2. making throw sized quilts as gifts for women who have been traffiked and are in the A-21 program (see charity causes tab for more info).
3. teaching volunteers from the red cross to quilt and partnering with them to make throw sized quilts for the poor and for women who are living on the streets and being helped by red cross programs.
4. making quilts for families who are in need through our contacts with the salvation army.
we will also continue to make and accept baby sized tops on an ongoing basis for poor families and orphanages as their need comes to our attention.
