first i want to say that thanks to a lot of prayer and the grace and healing of the Lord my hand has made a most complete recovery. i have some aching at times and still use the velcro splint as needed but mostly i am pain free with little swelling and full range of motion though be it a bit slow:) i am doing most of the quilting tasks that i am used to doing but the girls, thomas, and sometimes my trusty vise grip must step in to help with some things . . . all in time.
so, let me start by telling you about the women’s world day of prayer. you may remember me speaking of it in my earlier posts. for those who do not know, it is an event that is held every year on a worldwide scale and has been ongoing for over 50 years. women from every country gather together within their own country for a day of prayer which focuses on a specific country chosen each year (this year it was chile, south america). it was fun to not only learn about and pray for the specific needs of the people of chile but to also meet and engage with women from all walks of faith in this special day together. the country of greece has a unique tradition of taking a collection during this time and donating it to one greek charity. this year our quilting efforts were nominated as the charity to receive the collection. we are certainly honored to receive this gift and will use it wisely as we attempt to use quilting as a tool to extend the love of christ to so many who are alone and hurting.
in an effort to help the women understand what we are doing and how their donations might be used we provided several quilts to various locations for display purposes during this day of prayer. i also provided a short bio on myself and the history of our ministry. these displays were used in athens, pireaus, and of course thessaloniki. i have included here some photos for you to enjoy of both our busy quilters and also of the display used in thessaloniki on march 4.
have a great quilting day!!
